The best day in college football history is coming … in 2016!
I am confident that this will be amazing… In two years.
Is it too soon to begin the countdown?
Not to get too far ahead of ourselves here, but could Sept. 3, 2016 be the best day in college football history?
It’s not that crazy a concept, especially after Auburn and Clemson announced a new home-and-home series on Tuesday.
We’ve seen the College Football Playoff – which will supposedly emphasize strength of schedule – inspire athletics directors of big-time schools to put together some marquee non-conference games. And already, the slate for 9/3/16 looks absolutely ridiculous:
Alabama-Southern Cal at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas
LSU-Wisconsin at Lambeau Field
UCLA at Texas A&M
Notre Dame at Texas
Clemson at Auburn
That’s 10 of the top 30 programs in the country scheduled to play each other in non-conference games, and with other big neutral site kickoff games yet to announce participants, there may be more to come.
It’s still two years away, of course, but opening weekend in…
