Monday Musings 12.17.12

Monday Musings5I along with the rest of the Nation am still struggling to wrap my head around the unthinkable tragedy that occurred last Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT. It just doesn’t seem right to talk about anything else beyond this right now.

This past weekend, I have hugged my nieces and nephew a little tighter, let my family know I love them to the ends of the Earth, made sure my Husband knew how much I adore him and gave my pup more treats than usual.

My mind keeps taking me back to the children and the loss of innocence they went through that day. The heroic teachers who comforted and protected their students. My thoughts take me to the parents and families whose lives are forever altered by this tragedy. My heart goes out to the 6 heroes who died protecting the children in their care, and the 20 beautiful innocent children who will spend Christmas in Heaven this year.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends and community of Newtown. I pray that we are all able to make some sort of sense out of this horror. I pray we are able to cling to Christ and search his word and know that he is in control. Through the hurt and the anger and the sorrow and the questions, God is in control.

Through the healing, hug your families more. Let your spouse know they are adorably perfect. If you have children, spoil them and love them and spend more time with them. If you have fur-babies give them a few more treats and a lot more snuggles on the head.

With a Heavy Heart,

Cheers, Dez
